The Ithaca Urban Renewal Agency (IURA) has solicited proposals to redevelop the Green Street Parking Garage site, with the goals of increasing housing options and creating sufficient parking supply.

Led by John Driscoll, the project team including STREAM Collaborative Architecture + Landscape Architecture DPC, in conjunction with Harold's Holdings, McGuire Development, and many others, has designed a building for this important location that will:

  • Respect the existing scale and character of Ithaca's downtown district
  • Add 76 new housing units, 72 of which will be classified as ‘affordable’
  • Create a generous new outdoor public space that connects Green St. to The Commons
  • Activate the ground level with a public market space and small-scale retail
  • Include 134 new parking spaces

Our full proposal can be downloaded from the IURA website, here.

"We propose an architectural expression of the principles of equity, sustainability, public space, and economic progress,  a building that shows graceful deference to its context and, rather than asserting its full allowed height, instead acknowledges the scale and historic character of Ithaca’s downtown.”
